Park Nights 2016: BBC Radio 3's Late Junction, with Bas Jan, Adam Christensen, yeah you and Evan Ifekoya

Late Junction is a home for adventurous listeners on BBC Radio 3, broadcasting every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 11pm with a wild mix of mind bending musics from ancient to future.
The three-piece Bas Jan deal out vibrant, insouciant and defiantly uncategorisable experimental pop, as indebted to the off-kilter stylings of The Slits as the elegiac strains of bassists/vocalist Serafina Steer’s intricately woven harp-led solo work. Artist Jenny Moore (drums & vocals) can also be found in feminist drum-hop band Charismatic Megafauna and composer / violinist Sarah Anderson has been known to make sci-fi opera and play in Chrome Hoof. Dealing out poignant tales of the everyday and kraut-inspired wig-outs alike, Bas Jan are as punk rock in spirit as they are poetic.
Adam Christensen (b. 1979) lives and works in London. Recent exhibitions and performances include Wysing Polyphonic (2016); Almanac Projects, London (2015); EKKM, Tallinn and Southard Reid, London (2014); LimaZulu, London; Centre for Contemporary Art Futura, Prague; MGK, Basel (2013) and ICA, London (2012). With Viki Steiri and Jack Brennan, Christensen is part of the band Ectopia.
yeah you started recording improvised electronic pop in the car, by the side of roads and in other unlikely settings in 2013. They played their first show in June of that year at the Alston Masonic Hall where they were mistakenly billed as Platinum Booty. Since then they have recorded more than 2,000 video-songs, a small selection of which can be viewed on their Wild Pop Vimeo page. To date, their music has mostly come out on cassette, with releases on Good Food, Psykick Dancehall and Slip; a retrospective box set for Alt Vinyl is due out in the Autumn.
Evan Ifekoya’s current practice investigates the possibility of an erotic and poetic occupation using moving image, performative writing and sound, focused on co-authored, intimate forms of knowledge production and the radical potential of spectacle. Ifekoya has recently presented work at Wysing Arts Centre, Stevenson Gallery Cape Town, Jerwood Space, Whitstable Biennial (2016) as well as David Roberts Art Foundation, FramerFramed and Studio Voltaire (2015). In the next few months new work will be shown at The Showroom, Transmission Gallery, Assembly Point and IMT gallery.
