Open Workshop #2: Church Street Local Projects Shelf

Offsite 11 Mar 2016 Free

Designer Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad led a workshop to design and programme a community-run bookshelf for Church Street Library.

The proposed Local Projects Shelf features the many projects and publications about the Church Street and Edgware Road area and exists as a growing archive of the neighbourhood.

For this workshop, participants were invited to join Bahbak as he pitched his ideas, images and sketches for the shelf and how it may function in the library and to develop draft designs for the shelf from which the final design was developed.

Participants were also invited to bring publications and documents made in/or about the neighbourhood, to donate to the shelf and to discuss.

This Open Workshop was the second in a series working towards the launch of the Local Projects Shelf on 13th April 2016, where Studies on a Road, a series of pamphlets documenting projects commissioned through the Serpentine Galleries’ Edgware Road Project also launched.
