This was the first major two-person exhibition in the UK of work by British artists Jane and Louise Wilson, who were nominated for the 1999 Turner Prize.
The show included a major new work commissioned by the Serpentine Gallery, Parliament (A Third House) (1999), as well as the internationally acclaimed film Stasi City (1997) and their recently completed work Gamma (1999). This was the first time these works had been shown together. In their new work for the Serpentine Gallery, the Wilsons continued their investigations into places that have important social resonances.
Jane and Louise Wilson had previously shown at the Serpentine Gallery when they won the Barclays’ Young Artist Award in 1993.
