Alberto Giacometti: Sculpture, painting, drawings

Serpentine South Gallery 10 Apr — 17 May 1981 Free

An exhibition of Alberto Giacometti’s work, including drawings and oil portraits as well as sculptures.

Opening almost 15 years to the day after the artist’s death, this exhibition brought together a number of fine examples of Giacometti’s work. The inclusion of pencil drawings and oil portraits in the exhibition helped to bring greater awareness of these aspects of the revered Swiss sculptor’s practice.

A 14-minute film showing Giacometti drawing and sculpting complemented the exhibition.
