Roger Palmer: Precious Metals

Serpentine South Gallery 18 Oct — 23 Nov 1986 Free

Precious Metals was composed of 10 triptychs by Roger Palmer that focussed on one settlement in Cape Province, South Africa.

This triptychs captured Cape Province’s climate, history, and civilisations past and present with an almost anthropological zeal.

Created following a month spent in Cape Province in 1985, each triptych consisted of two black-and-white photographs flanking a central panel of hand-written and printed words.

The exhibition and body of work was accompanied by a publication published by Cambridge Darkroom, featuring an interview with Pavel Büchler.
