Paolo Viscardi, curator at the Horniman Museum and Gardens in charge of the fossil and bone collections, presented a talk about his practice in response to the work of Adrián Villar Rojas.

Paolo Viscardi studied biology and geology at the University of Bristol and comparative anatomy and physiology at the University of Leeds. Before he joined the Horniman in 2007, he worked for the National Museum of Ireland, University College Dublin and Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery, with roles ranging from supervising recovering heroin addicts on a back-to-work programme to practical conservation and documentation. At the Horniman he is responsible for the curation of the osteology, geology and palaeontology collections.

The new Serpentine Sackler Gallery opened with an extraordinary site-specific installation by the young Argentinian artist Adrián Villar Rojas, in which the space was re-imagined as a fossilised world of ruins and ancient monuments.
