Serpentine South Gallery 12 Apr 2014 Free

Artist Leah Capaldi reflected on the encounter of object, body and sculpture in a durational performance in the Sackler Centre of Arts Education, at the Serpentine Gallery – in response and in close proximity to the exhibition by Haim Steinbach, once again the world is flat.

Leah Capaldi (b. 1985, Chertsey, UK) lives and works in London. She obtained an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art in 2010 and a BA from the University of Brighton in 2007. The crossover area between the disciplines of sculpture and performance are of particular interest to Capaldi, whose work plays with notions of surveillance and spectatorship. Recent exhibitions include Witness Matter, Vitrine, London (2014) and No Questions, Ausstellungsraum, Basel (2013). Group exhibitions include Bloomberg New Contemporaries, ICA, London (2011) and mass. en masse. mass medium., Café Gallery Projects, London (2013). Capaldi was the recipient of the 2010 EXPOSURE Award and the Arts Foundation’s 2014 Sculpture Fellowship.
