The performance took as its starting point a series of sculptures by the artist - Four Walls Speaking of Revolt, Media and Beauty - dedicated as an anti-monument to the work of poet, philosopher and activist Jean Genet. It is the final performance in a trilogy of the same name, the first part presented at Nottingham Contemporary and the second at Tramway in 2011.

Using props from the sculptures and featuring Genet's film Un Chant d'Amour, Reynaud Dewar will perform alongside French poet Pierre Giquel, who was Reynaud-Dewar's teacher at artschool, translating his words against the backdrop of a recent film focusing on Genet's politics and aesthetics.

Speaking of Revolt, Media and Beauty was originally commissioned by Tramway, Glasgow.

Lili Reynaud Dewar was born in La Rochelle in 1975 and currently lives and works in Paris. Recent solo exhibitions and projects include This is my place / Ceci est ma maison, Magasin, Grenoble (2012); Some Objects Blackened and a Body too, Mary Mary, Glasgow (2011); Genet's Walls for Tramway, Glasgow (2011) and Interpretation, Performa/Calder Foundation, New York (2011); Cleda's Chairs, Bielefelder Kunstverein, Bielefeld (2011); Interpretation, Kunsthalle Basel and Im3, Lausanne (2010). Selected group exhibitions in 2011 include Le Château, CAPC musee d'art contemporain de Bordeaux; The End of Money, Witte de With, Rotterdam and Jean Genet, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham.
