Artists One of My Kind (OOMK) designed a collaborative city with children and their families.
Setting up a temporary interactive printing press, OOMK invited families to identify the urban challenges we face using collage and drawing to design new buildings to improve our city. They asked: What are the buildings we want and need? Where are the spaces for health, living, education and play in the city? Using the risograph printer, children and their families produced prints of their designs, contributing to a collective cityscape and distributing proposals to friends and family.
This event was free, drop-in and suitable for families with children of all ages.
The workshop was programmed in parallel with the 2019 Serpentine Pavilion designed by Junya Ishigami.
OOMK were the 2019 Serpentine Family Artists-in-Residence. Over the course of the year, OOMK developed _____ in common, a series of workshops that brought together children and adults to explore the idea of the commons – the cultural and natural resources that could be used by all members of society. Through their residency, they aimed to support and sustain a renewed responsibility for each other and the natural world.
