Serpentine South Gallery 24 Apr 2019 Free

Serpentine Education invited teachers to attend a late opening of the exhibitions Emma Kunz – Visionary Drawings: An exhibition conceived with Christodoulos Panayiotou and Hito Steyerl: Power Plants

Participants met the Education Curators, discussed the upcoming education programme and took part in a creative writing workshop with 2019 Schools Artist in Residence, Belinda Zhawi. Copies of the free teachers resources were available, including the Serpentine’s poster series Cracks in the Curriculum, which explored creative ways to address pressing social issues in the classroom.

The schools programme creates spaces for children, young people, educators and artists to come together through long term residencies, workshops and visits to the Serpentine Galleries. In the context of an increasingly pressurised education system, artists work with young people to re-think school structures and imagine new possibilities for learning.

Serpentine Galleries supports Artsmark Schools. Artsmark is Arts Council England’s nationally recognised flagship programme. For further information about Artsmark, visit artsmark.org.uk.
