Land - marks

1 Jun — 1 Sep 2018

Land – Marks was a Family Pack that invited children and their families to make their mark in a series of landscapes using The Mastaba on Serpentine Lake as inspiration.

The pack featured photographs of places where Christo and Jeanne-Claude have previously placed sculptures and asks families to think how their sculpture might change the environment.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are artists renowned for their large-scale environmental and temporary sculptures in urban and natural landscapes around the world. The sculptures temporarily change the way these places look and feel through a creative intervention in the landscape.

In the summer of 2018, the Serpentine Galleries presented an exhibition of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s sculptures with barrels from 1958 to 2018. At the same time Christo presented The Mastaba (Project for London, Hyde Park, Serpentine Lake), a floating sculpture on the lake nearby, which is made of 7506 colourful barrels.
