Serpentine South Gallery 23–25 Apr 2019 Free

Poet and writer Belinda Zhawi, the Serpentine’s Schools Artist in Residence 2019, led a series of creative writing workshops with school groups.

Zhawi’s poetry reflects the dialogue between multiple cultures and places as well as how art and education can be used as intersectional tools.

Zhawi and invited guest Kareem Parkins Brown facilitated creative writing workshops with school groups, exploring the themes of home, memory and cityscapes.

The workshops were free to state-funded schools in the Greater London area and for groups of up to 30 students, 8–15 years old (Years 4–10).

Serpentine Galleries supports Artsmark Schools. Artsmark is Arts Council England’s nationally recognised flagship programme. For further information about Artsmark, visit artsmark.org.uk.
