Since 1970, the Serpentine has worked with artists to present pioneering programmes to the broadest audiences, completely free of charge.

Over the last 50 years, our exhibitions, architectural pavilions, education projects, live, and digital programmes have engaged more than a million visitors annually.

We have championed some of the most innovative artistic voices of their generation, including Gilbert & George, Marina Abramović and Olafur Eliasson. In more recent years, we’ve featured artists such as Ian Cheng, Luchita Hurtado and Faith Ringgold.

As a registered charity, the Serpentine relies on the generosity and commitment of individuals, companies and trusts, and foundations to fundraise for 87% of its annual operating budget.
