Sue Arrowsmith

Serpentine South Gallery 28 Oct — 17 Nov 1985 Free

Known for her sensitive manipulation of photographic imagery, Sue Arrowsmith’s exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery included a new series of self-portraits.

Having graduated from the Slade in 1975, Arrowsmith (b.1950) emerged into an exciting period for experimental photographic work in Britain – a period that was reassessed in the Whitechapel’s 2000 exhibition, Live in Your Head: Concept and Experiment in Britain 1965-75, in which Arrowsmith’s work was featured.

This solo exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery offered an opportunity for the public to engage with the artist’s work produced in the decade since she completed her studies, including a new series of self-portraits.
