Summer Show 1 [1981]

Serpentine South Gallery 4 Jul — 2 Aug 1981 Free

Miranda Strickland-Constable selected this summer show from an open submission and her consequent studio visits.

Strickland-Constable wrote that she attempted to leave her personal predilections aside and to visit artists doing very different kinds of work. However, she admitted that the end exhibition had a bias towards landscape in various aspects.

Robert Callender painted landscapes, while sculptor Andrew Darke made his landscapes from wood. Steve Joy’s paintings were distillations of his feelings about places he had experienced.
