Artist Albert Potrony developed the Early Years Atelier following his collaboration with children, parents and staff at the Portman Early Childhood Centre in North Westminster.
The Early Years Atelier is designed around the principles of child-initiated play, hands-on experience and collaboration.
Through the Early Years Atelier we aim to celebrate and advocate for play in early years’ education.
Sessions last 75 minutes and are available at either 10.30am or 1.30pm on:
- Tuesday May 9
- Wednesday May 10
- Thursday May 11
- Friday May 12
Bookings are free and open to groups of up to 15 children aged 2 – 4 years old, plus adults.
The Atelier leads out onto the park, please be prepared for wet weather and bring a change of clothes if necessary.
Participating settings will receive a complimentary Play as Radical Practice resource and film, developed by Albert Potrony with the Portman Early Childhood Centre.
Bookings are open now, so register your interest early to avoid disappointment.
The Early Years Atelier is free and will run from Tuesday May 9 until Friday May 12. The Atelier builds out from Albert Potrony’s 2016 Changing Play residency, in which children used and adapted a kit of multiple parts and developed their own lines of enquiry.
