LIVE | DAVI PONTES AND WALLACE FERREIRA: REPERTÓRIO N.1

Serpentine is delighted to present the world premiere of Repertório N.1, the final piece in a trilogy by Brazilian artists Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira. The performance will be staged at Porchester Hall, London during Frieze Week 2025 on 18 and 19 October 2025, as part of Dance Umbrella, London’s international dance festival, before touring internationally in 2026.

Co-commissioned by Serpentine and Dance Umbrella (UK), Something Great (Germany), Wiener Festwochen (Austria), Arsenic (Switzerland) and Viernulvier (Belgium), the performance explores choreography as a form of self-defence.

Since beginning their collaboration in 2018, Pontes and Ferreira, have developed a practice that bridges dance, visual arts and critical theory. Their work draws from their shared experiences, and speaks to and from the global majority, amplifying the legacies of queer, Black Brazilian culture. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the duo have collaborated on works presented at the Biennale de la Danse de Lyon, France, 2025, the Hamburg Kampnagel International Summer Festival, Germany, 2025, The International Dance Festival of Munich, Germany, 2025, Centre Dramatique National, Aubervilliers, France, 2025, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Brazil, 2024, the International Image Festival of Valongo, Brazil, 2021, and Frestas, Triennial of the Arts, Brazil, 2020-21, among others. In 2021, they also directed the film Delirar o racial, commissioned by the Satellite Pivot program, expanding their inquiry into how the body can reimagine worlds beyond violence.
