Ghisha Koenig - daughter of Leo Koenig – was born very near to the Serpentine Gallery, in Kensington, and studied under Henry Moore at Chelsea in the late 1940s.

Intimate in scale and dark in colour, Koenig’s reliefs often interpret the work place as a hub of human activity, especially factories. Many of the manufacturing processes she depicted were evidently laborious – the sculptures emphasised the mechanised environment of factory life but it was the human aspect of work which most arrested Koenig’s attention.

The show, which was curated by Guy Brett, concentrated on three series of her works completed between 1968 and 1986: The GlassworksThe Tentmakers and The Plate and Coil Shop

An exhibition of Koenig's drawings was held concurrently at the Boundary Gallery in North London.
