Artist Adelita Husni-Bey discussed her influences and practice, which focuses on the complexity of collectivity.

In this talk, Husni-Bey traced a line of thinking starting with pain, hurt and healing, through to anarco-collectivist models of education in relation to experimental theatre, and ending with histories and anthropologies of law-making. She is currently developing a project in collaboration with the Portman Early Childhood Centre, as part of the Serpentine Education Changing Play programme.

Unwritten Handbook is a seasonal series of conversations with artists commissioned through Education and Projects at the Serpentine Galleries. Recent Artist Talks include: Rehana Zaman, Harold Offeh, Paul Maheke, Stephanie Cubbin, Chris Jones and Janna Graham, Bedfellows, Anton Kats, Frances Rifkin, Invisible Spaces of Parenthood, Sam Curtis and Mohamad Hafeda.

Artist Adelita Husni-Bey presented four recent films as part of Serpentine Cinema at Peckhamplex: The Reading/La Seduta (2017, 15'33', premièred at the Venice Biennale 2017); 2265 (2015, 12'23''); After the Finish Line (2015, 12'39'') and Postcards from the Desert Island (2011, 22'23''). On the occasion of the screening, the artist proposed a series of participatory exercises with viewers drawn from her research in radical pedagogy and the Theatre of the Oppressed. With printed contributions by Evan Calder Williams, Janna Graham, Elizabeth A. Povinelli and Ser Serpas.
