Brian Eno for 364 More Earth Days

 

In 1975, artist and musician Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt created Oblique Strategies, a card deck with suggestions for a course of action or mode of thinking to assist in creative situations. As part of Serpentine’s ongoing Ecologies initiatives, we are working with Brian Eno on developing a new set of cards.

Presenting prompts and questions, the deck aims to invite young people, adults and organisations to think differently about the planet, environmental responsibility and justice.

Your contributions, as well as the complete deck of cards by Brian Eno, will be presented as part of the 2024 Infinite Ecologies Marathon.

Brian Eno’s intervention for 364 More Earth Days is produced by Serpentine in collaboration with The Wild Escape, bringing together hundreds of museums and thousands of children to create one collective artwork for Earth Day. The Wild Escape is made possible by lead support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from Art Fund, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Kusuma Trust, Foyle Foundation and a group of generous individuals and trusts. #TheWildEscape

Brian Eno’s cards have been designed by artist Giles Round and printed by Calverts, a design and print cooperative based in Bethnal Green, working to put communities, workers, and the environment first. Made from sustainable materials and produced with renewable energy, the cards are printed on carbon-neutral and biodegradable paper.

Cards are made from Alga Carta paper, which is made from algae sourced from the Venice Lagoon.

Slips are made with Crush paper, which is derived from fruit and flowers – by-products of the agro-industry.
