Allan McCollum

Serpentine South Gallery 21 Mar — 29 Apr 1990 Free

For the first time in Britain, the many strands of Allan McCollum’s work were brought together for this retrospective.

Over 14,000 crafted objects were installed in the Serpentine Gallery. These objects made up four of McCollum’s works: Surrogates, Perfect Vehicles, Perpetual Photographs, and his most recent piece at the time, Individual Works, which consisted of 10,000 hand-sized, coral-coloured objects, each unique and spread out evenly on a huge table.
