Serpentine South Gallery 11 May — 8 Jun 1979 Free

This was the first major retrospective of British artist Allen Jones’ work, and focused on his paintings.

The exhibition brought together nearly 50 paintings by Allen Jones (b.1937) spanning two decades, including a number of major canvases never before seen in Britain.

Selected paintings included examples from his early work, through to his better known erotic paintings, seen together for the first time.

The exhibition, which was a major international touring show, was organised by the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, the Arts Council of Great Britain, the British Council, and Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden.
