Due to the hot weather, the Pavilion is closed today (Wednesday 24 June) and will be open 10am-12pm tomorrow (Thursday 25 June). Both our exhibitions remain open as usual. Walk-up entry is always possible without a pre-booked ticket – but you may need to queue shortly before entering.
An exhibition of photographs, completed by Andreas Gursky over a period of months leading up to the show.
This was the first major presentation in London of Gursky’s work. The exhibition included new photographs that were displayed for the first time in Britain at the Serpentine Gallery. Gursky’s microscopically detailed and meticulously planned images were created using a five-by-four plate camera. Panoramic in scope and epic in proportions, his photographs are extraordinary documents of a post-industrial world. His recent works were completed with the use of computer manipulation.
