Anna Zemánková

Serpentine South Gallery 25 Jul — 31 Aug 1987 Free

The exhibition, which was held shortly after Zemánková’s death the previous year, showed the Art Brut tendencies that had made her name and reputation.

In Zemánková’s work, a febrile and at times threatening botanical world is conjured up through a combination of ink, pastel, and thread.

The same year as this exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, Zemánková featured in the major touring group exhibition In Another World: Outsider Art from Europe and America, organised by the South Bank Centre in London and curated by Monika Kinley.
