The Arts Council of Great Britain invited Anthony Caro to exhibit the sculptures he had made since his last major solo exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in 1969.
The 31 abstract works in the show ranged from relatively small objects to monumental pieces.
None of the sculptures on display had before been shown in Britain. The works displayed included Alto Rhapsody, Porte, and Mint Chiffon.
The exhibition, which was curated by Tim Hilton in collaboration with Anthony Caro, was accompanied by a publication with text by Catherine Lampert.
