This was Bryan Kneale’s first one-man exhibition in a public gallery since his retrospective at the Whitechapel in 1966.

Kneale (b.1930) is a Royal Academician who was born on the Isle of Man. Formerly Head of Sculpture at Hornsey College of Art and Design, during much of the 1960s and ’70s he was a tutor at the Royal College of Art. Two years after his exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, he was appointed Professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy Schools.

The show included early works to provide a wider context in which to view the recent sculptures on display.

The exhibition was curated by Bryan Robertson.
