David Austen: Drawings

Serpentine South Gallery 25 Jul — 31 Aug 1987 Free

This exhibition presented David Austen’s drawings in a variety of media, including watercolour, Indian inks, and powder paint.

The exhibition presented an imagined aquatic world in which human and sometimes semi-metamorphosised beings seem to float, suggestive of both creation and death.

Recent works displayed in the exhibition included Boat in Wood, Diver Kissing Fish, Lagoon, Man Fish, Red Fish, Fish Dance, Green Diver, Man in the Sea, Gone Fishing, and Man in Barrel.
