Eduardo Paolozzi: Sculptures from a Garden

For the first time, renowned art collector Gabrielle Keiller’s selection of Eduardo Paolozzi’s sculptures was put on public display on the Serpentine Gallery lawn.

Since Paolozzi’s retrospective exhibition at the Tate Gallery in 1971, his graphic work and public commissions had been visible in London, but relatively little had been seen of his sculpture. This exhibition was a unique opportunity for the public to become acquainted with Paolozzi’s sculptures through Gabrielle Keiller’s significant collection.

The collection consisted of crucial examples of Paolozzi’s oeuvre between 1946 and 1972. It included early primitivistic works in bronze, the totemic towers and idols of the 1960s, as well as the more mechanistic assemblages.

A publication accompanied the exhibition, featuring a text by Frank Whitford.
