Due to the hot weather, the Pavilion is closed today (Wednesday 24 June) and will be open 10am-12pm tomorrow (Thursday 25 June). Both our exhibitions remain open as usual. Walk-up entry is always possible without a pre-booked ticket – but you may need to queue shortly before entering.
This was Ellsworth Kelly’s first exhibition in London since 1997.
For this exhibition, Kelly selected 18 works made since 2002, shown together for the first time. These works exemplified the breadth of scale, colour and forms that characterise Kelly’s art, including multi-panel works and reliefs in vibrant contrasting colours, as well as shaped canvases and sculpture.
Having pioneered an abstract aesthetic that was vital to the evolution of postwar art, at the time of this exhibition, Kelly was considered one of the world’s greatest living artists.
