Gillian Wearing’s first major solo exhibition in a public art gallery in London.
For this exhibition, the Serpentine Gallery presented Wearing’s well-known early works alongside recent and new video installations. At the heart of the exhibition was her work Trauma (2000) and Drunk (1999), both shown in the UK for the first time. Earlier video and photographic pieces included Dancing in Peckham (1994), Homage to the woman with the bandaged face who I saw yesterday down Walworth Road (1995), Sacha and Mum (1996) and 2 into 1 (1997).
