Günter Brus/Arnulf Rainer

Serpentine South Gallery 25 Jul — 31 Aug 1987 Free

In 1985, Günter Brus and Arnulf Rainer, two of Austria’s leading contemporary artists since the mid-20th century, worked together on a series of drawings inspired by a folio of 19th century plant engravings.

The artists jointly elaborated on a folio of natural history prints – made by K. and K. Hof at the Staatsdruckerei (State Printers) in Vienna – to transform the found images into highly expressive and personal drawings. A selection of the resulting works was shown in this exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery.
