Summer Show 2 [1972]

29 Apr — 21 May 1972 Free

This was the second of the Serpentine Gallery’s exhibition slots for the summer season of 1972.

James Allen, Chris Sayers, and Madelon Vriesendorp showed recent work in the Serpentine’s South Gallery, while Stephen Young presented work in the West Gallery, Tom Edmonds in the North and Print Galleries, and Anthony Beers in the East Gallery.

On the East Lawn, Tim Threlfall displayed some of his recent works including Steel and Slate Piece, 45° Structure, 1971, and Column, 1971.

Among the young artists selected for the exhibition was Madelon Vriesendorp, a Dutch artist who had recently studied at Central St. Martins School of Art. During 1972, she and her husband, Rem Koolhaas, left London for New York, where they founded the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) along with Elia and Zoe Zenghelis.
