John Hoyland: Paintings 1967–79

Serpentine South Gallery 29 Sep — 28 Oct 1979 Free

An exhibition of the work of John Hoyland, illustrating his strengths in colourful, abstract, and often minimal, painting.

This exhibition presented the work of Hoyland (1934-2011) made since his retrospective in 1967 at the Whitechapel Gallery.

The exhibition provided a concentrated overview of Hoyland’s imagery and the means he both selected and invented to bring this imagery to life.

The exhibition was curated by John Hoyland and Bryan Robertson.
