Matt Copson
Matt Copson’s multidisciplinary practice spans laser animation, sculpture, opera, film and performance. Using theatrical devices to create site-specific and multi-sensory installations, he draws on myth, folklore and pop culture to explore contemporary life, shaped by spectacle, attention and constant flux.
Copson’s first major institutional solo presentation in the UK, the exhibition centres on one of Britain’s best-known folkloric figures, Robin Hood, the archetypal noble outlaw known for redistributing wealth. Inspired by Copson’s interest in theme park rides, the exhibition takes the form of a labyrinth, leading visitors through a journey of new works incorporating laser projection, sculpture, animatronics and audio pieces.
