Roger Hilton: Paintings and drawings 1931-73
This was a broad survey of Roger Hilton’s paintings, drawings and gouaches.
Roger Hilton (1911-75) was a London-born painter whose early figurative works developed into an increasingly abstract approach as his career progressed, connecting him both with Abstract Expressionism and St. Ives. He lived for much of his later life in Cornwall.
This exhibition, shortly before his death, presented a selection of Hilton’s large and small works, from landscapes and portraits painted in pre-war Paris, to his more recent drawings and gouaches.
