Rory McEwen: The Botanical Paintings

Serpentine South Gallery 26 November 1988 — 8 January 1989 Free

Six years after his death, the Serpentine Gallery presented this exhibition of Rory McEwen’s botanical paintings.

The exhibition covered many aspects of McEwen’s botanical watercolours over three decades, offering a taste of his work as a whole.

Martyn Rix wrote in the catalogue: “Rory McEwen’s unique talent was to combine botanical accuracy, artistic elegance and superb technique in the same painting.”
