Scale for Sculpture

Serpentine South Gallery 21 Oct — 19 Nov 1978 Free

This exhibition was advertised with the tag line: ‘Materials, reality, poetry, metrication, Morris dancing and the like…’

Six artists with contrasting methods, attitudes, and aims were represented in the exhibition by a single, major sculptural work.

Each piece, save one, was specially commissioned for the exhibition by the Arts Council (Carl Plackman was represented by an existing piece from the Arts Council collection).

Works on display included Nicholas Monro’s work Morris Dance, which was composed of six life-size figures in painted fibreglass.

The exhibition was curated by Carol Hogben.
