Six Times: Performances and Installations Exploring Duration and Change

Serpentine South Gallery 26 Nov — 12 Dec 1976 Free

An exhibition of performances and installations by six artists connected by their shared exploration of notions of duration and change.

Included in the show was Paul Neagu’s Hyphen-Ramp. Performed in the North gallery, Neagu attempted to interrelate static exhibits with his performance.

Charles Garrad rebuilt from memory a hotel room he had stayed in a year before in Mexico. Garrad wrote about A Room Remembered: “This is not an attempt at a complete reconstruction, but an approximation, built from memory, of certain parts of the room, the relationships between them and sensations I experienced there.” In addition to his installation, Garrad included photographs of previous constructions in order to contextualise the new work within his wider oeuvre.
