Summer Show 3 [1982]
The final summer show of the 1982 season was selected from an open submission by Richard Francis.
Francis, who was assistant curator at the Tate Gallery at the time and a member of the Arts Council, selected the final summer show of the 1982 season from an open submission.
In the resulting exhibition, Francis wrote: “None of these artists is similar; I cannot find an explanatory word which suggests an aesthetic which links them together. As individuals, they all reveal something which I find interesting both about ways of making art and the way in which they see the world around them.”
Most of the artists, such as Shirazeh Houshiary and Sharon Kivland, showed new works. Peter Randall-Page displayed his work on the Serpentine Gallery lawn.
