On the occasion of the Serpentine Galleries Miracle Marathon, artist Syowia Kyambi (b.1979) invites you to record and submit stories of your own relationships that have created or affected change in a community or family.
Syowia Kyambi is interested in relationships that created changes in the way we think and function in the world for example the large scale civil rights changes in society, in particular, the Loving v. Virginia case in 1967 which saw the United States Supreme Court invalidate laws prohibiting interracial marriage. This particular body of work made especially for the Serpentine Galleries Miracle Marathon, focuses on personal relationships, specifically love, that have affected social change. Your stories will make up the sound work, Between Loving & Me.

Information on the Serpentine Galleries Miracle Marathon
Now in its eleventh year, the Serpentine Marathon series continues on its exploration of activism, art, anthropology, architecture, literature, music, philosophy, theology and science through a specific theme or topic of particular relevance in artists’ practice and in the wider contemporary context. Each year, the Marathon topic breaks through disciplinary boundaries to identify discursive movements, as well as the parallels and points of encounter between the empirical, the political and the imagined.
In 2015, the Transformation Marathon launched the first-ever broadcast of Serpentine Radio, the Galleries’ online radio station, with twelve hours of the event taking place on stage and a further twelve hours on air. The Miracle Marathon builds on this model and extends it, beginning on Saturday 8 October at the Serpentine North Gallery and continuing on Sunday 9 October on Serpentine Radio, which will be recorded live to a studio audience at Second Home and broadcast online at radio.serpentinegalleries.org.
