This exhibition offered British audiences an opportunity to view 22 of Antoni Tàpies’ paintings from a formative period in his career.
Drawn from collections in Europe and America, these works, painted in Paris and Spain, and called his ‘matter paintings’, brought him fame in the late 1950s and placed him among the leaders of the international avant-garde.
