Artist Heather Phillipson presented a unique audio-sculptural event in the 2014 Pavilion.
Phillipson presented the flavour of cooling enormities, an audio-sculptural event, squeezed around the Pavilion’s architecture. Inserting videos, voices, music, bodies and objects into its orifices and recesses, Phillipson ignited the Pavilion’s visual and sonic axes with a one-night-only poetic oddity.
Phillipson’s recent solo exhibitions and events have taken place at Tate Britain, Bunker259 (New York), BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Whitechapel Gallery, the ICA and include a video commission for Channel 4 television. Phillipson is also an award-winning poet. In October 2014, Phillipson designed the stage of the Extinction Marathon at the Serpentine North Gallery.
Between June and October 2014, Serpentine Galleries presented Park Nights, an annual series of live art, poetry, music, film, literature, performance and theory. In 2014, eight events took place on selected Friday evenings in the unique environment of the Serpentine Pavilion 2014, designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radić.
