During this Listening Session, a dismembered jazz ensemble will jam, performing separately and simultaneously as they are dispersed across London. Each musical act will perform alone, at sites throughout the city. Performing artist Okwui Okpokwasili will dance along to the discordant soundtrack as the musicians are live streamed to an audience who will gather at the Magazine Restaurant, designed by the late Zaha Hadid, at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. Music by Steve Coleman, Morgan Craft, Micah Gaugh, Melvin Gibbs, Jason Moran and Kokayi Carl Walker.

The Listening Session was recorded direct-to-disc on The Vinyl Factory Lathe which will be installed in the gallery. A limited vinyl edition has been be released by The Vinyl Factory and Serpentine Galleries.

Arthur Jafa’s exhibition was open until 10pm during the event.

Presented in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory.
