Ideas Through Art: Assemblage

Serpentine South Gallery 2 Nov 2015 Free

Artist Anna Lucas led a workshop using the sculptural and cinematic assemblages found in the Serpentine’s Autumn Exhibitions programme as a starting point.

Using found photographic images, the workshop looked at: What draws you to an image? What do you place next to it? What happens at the edges? What changes when you move or re-photograph it? The session incorporated critical discussion in the exhibitions and practical art activities in the studio.

Ideas Through Art is a series of workshops making connections between key issues in education and contemporary art. The programme aims to bring artists and teachers together to think about experimental, cross-curricula approaches to teaching art in schools.

‘I enjoyed discovering great practical ideas which I could take back to the classroom!’
