Tamar Clarke-Brown, Curator (Commissions), Arts Technologies, leads a tour of the exhibition Gabriel Massan and Collaborators: Third World: The Bottom Dimension focused on alternative worldbuilding and decolonial storytelling.
Gabriel Massan: Third World: The Bottom Dimension is Massan’s first major solo show at a public institution. The exhibition is an extended platform and portal for Massan and invited artists – Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro, Novíssimo Edgar, LYZZA, Jota Mombaça and Ventura Profana – to expand on their worldbuilding practices. The exhibition engages the audience as active participants in the real-time development of a responsive environment, including sound, light, gameplay from the collaborative video game at the project’s heart.
BSL interpretation is available on request for all our Saturday Talks. Please get in touch at [email protected] if you would like to request this.
Third World: The Bottom Dimension is a journey into a fantastical and thought-provoking world, built by a vital generation of Brazilian artists. This ongoing and multi-dimensional project by Gabriel Massan and collaborators also includes web3 tokens built on Tezos and a video game that explores Black Brazilian experience as it intersects with the impacts of colonialism.
