Sarah Hamed, Assistant Exhibitions Curator, leads a tour of the exhibition Gabriel Massan & Collaborators: Third World: The Bottom Dimension.
Gabriel Massan & Collaborators: Third World: The Bottom Dimension is an extended platform and portal for Massan and invited artists – Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro, Novíssimo Edgar, LYZZA, Jota Mombaça and Ventura Profana – to expand on their worldbuilding practices. Through platforming the artists’ material practices alongside their involvement in the game, either by collaboration or inspiration, the exhibition thereby provides further insight and context to audiences. These works and the aforementioned game, central to the development of the project, can be played in a specially designed ecosystem that has transformed the gallery.
BSL interpretation is available on request for all our Saturday Talks. Please get in touch at [email protected] if you would like to request this.
Third World: The Bottom Dimension is a journey into a fantastical and thought-provoking world, built by a vital generation of Brazilian artists. This ongoing and multi-dimensional project by Gabriel Massan and collaborators also includes web3 tokens built on Tezos and a video game that explores Black Brazilian experience as it intersects with the impacts of colonialism.
